SolidWorks 2025 works from a feature history, so a change to an early dimension propagates through the parts and assemblies that depend on it. That is the practical difference from a direct modeller, and it is what makes it suited to parts that go to manufacturing rather than to massing studies. Before ordering, check the file formats your suppliers expect, since neutral exchange through STEP or IGES loses the feature history even when the geometry travels intact.
